David Black, Organist
David Black, a Fellow in Music at Homerton College, Cambridge, was appointed Sub-Organist at St Mary and St Nicholas Church Leatherhead in January 2012.
He began his musical education at the University of Melbourne (Bachelor of Music 2001), where he was Organ Scholar at Trinity College. In 2001 he moved to the United States with the assistance of a Frank Knox Travelling Fellowship, subsequently gaining an MA (2004) and PhD (2007) at Harvard University, with a dissertation on Mozart's sacred music.
David has been a fellow of Homerton since 2006, and was the college’s Director of Music in 2009-11. He has lectured and published widely on eighteenth-century music, and is currently completing a new edition of the Mozart/Süssmayr Requiem.
