Musician
Wing Tung Fan
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Wing Tung Fan was appointed as the Associate Pianist of the Royal Ballet, after finishing her undergraduate study at the Royal Academy of Music. She studied on a scholarship, under Tatiana Sarkissova, alongside regular chamber music coaching with Andrew West.
At the age of 17, Wing Tung was awarded the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM) in Piano Performance and has already performed in several of China and Hong Kong’s most favoured concert halls including Suzhou Science & Cultural Arts Centre, Hong Kong Culture Centre, Hong Kong City Hall, Tuen Mun and Sha Tin Town Hall.
Most recently, she performed Chopin Piano Concerto No 2 with Master Orchestra in the Church of San Giovanni in Brescia, Italy. Whilst being a highly regarded soloist, Wing Tung is also a very passionate chamber musician working in duets, trios, quintet, and accompanying singers, string players, and more.
Thomas Ang
Praised for his thoughtful and critical programming and excellent technique, Thomas Ang is an experienced pianist with a vast repertoire. He has earned recognition as a specialist in the music of Kapustin and Medtner, and has a strong interest in contemporary and experimental music.
In his chamber groups he works to unearth neglected and obscure gems, as well as championing music by minority composers.
Off the concert stage, Thomas works as a pianist for the Royal Ballet and as a répétiteur for various opera productions. He has arranged and edited music for publication by Schott Music and Peters Edition, and is currently recording the complete piano works of Medtner.

Herbert Norman Howells (1892-1983)
from Three Pieces for Violin and Piano, Op 28 (1917)
3 Luchinushka My beloved [4:40]
1 Pastorale [6:15]
First let's hear the original folk song Luchinushka, sung by an unnamed Russian. We had more luck with the Herbert Howells setting. The players here are Maren Bosma, violin, and Caspar Vos, piano.
The performance of the Pastorale is by Andrew Stump. He is playing it here for his audition to enter Temple University, Philadelphia, with his friend Aaron Patterson at the piano.

Rebecca Helferich Clarke (1996-1979)
Midsummer Moon (1924) [5:50]
This is definitely unplanned, because we remain in Philadelphia, where the Chamber Music Society has invited Alexi Kenney and Anna Polonsky to perform for them:
Nikolai Karlovich Medtner (1880-1951)
from Three Nocturnes Op 16 (1907)
2 Largamente (G minor) [4:45}
For the Medtner Nocturne the violinist is Laurence Kayaleh with pianist Paul Stewart.
Myroslav Mykhailovich Skoryk (1938-2020)
Carpathian Rhapsody (1959) [6:35]
Today's final recording comes from the Konserthuset in Stockholm, and the 2018, 2nd "Rethinking Europe: Ukraine" festival. An interesting thought as that date precedes both COVID and the Russian Invasion. The recording is provided by the Ukrainian Institute of Sweden, and the performers are Natalya Pasichnyk, piano and Emil Jonason on clarinet.
