Alex Wun
A sophisticated and committed Hong Kong-born pianist, Alex Wun enjoys an active role as a young Artist. He is praised for his great flair and character. His intelligence and inspirational musical ideas have earned him every success in performing a wide variety of repertoires, including the most virtuosic ones.
Alex was considered a rising star even while still a student. He has performed in Salzburg, Dusseldorf, London, Birmingham, Kent, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Korea, as well as the major venues in Hong Kong, including the Hong Kong City Hall, Yuen Long Theatre Auditorium, AXA Wonderland, Poly U Jockey Club Auditorium. He appeared in RTHK The Works, RTHK Radio 4 and tvN Asia. Next season's highlights include his Wigmore Hall recital debut in May.
As a concerto soloist, Alex had performed with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, HKAPA (Academy for Performing Arts) Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Youth Orchestra, St John’s Chamber Orchestra, Strike Philharmonic Orchestra. He was the winner of the HKAPA Concerto Trial and the RAM Beethoven Concerto Prize.
He regularly appears as a chamber musician and has collaborated with Sean Lee, Andrew Ling, Juyoung Baek, Jiyeon Woo, amongst others. Recent highlights include the HKGNA (HK Generation Next Arts) ‘Brilliant Young World Stars Series’. He also played in masterclasses by Bruno Canino, as well as the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
Alex has won the Grand Prize of the HKGNA competition, First Prize of the 87th Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition – Hong Kong and Macau regional finals, amongst other international competitions.
Having graduated with First Class Honours in 2024 under Gabriel Kwok, Alex is now a postgraduate under Ian Fountain at the Royal Academy of Music, fully sponsored by the Lady Kadoorie Music Scholarships. He has worked with Arie Vardi, Victor Rosenbaum, Pascal Roge, Immogen Cooper, Wojciech Switala, Kun Woo Paik and Yoheved Kaplinsky amongst many renowned artists. Despite being a young artist, Alex serves as an advisor at the Strike Music Institute as well as a project manager in HKEMA - Hong Kong European Music & Arts.
