Hyun-Jeong Hwang, piano
Born in South Korea, Hyun-Jeong Hwang started playing the piano at the age of 4 and in her 20s began to win competitions in Korea. In 2009 she took first prize in the International Competition sponsored by Master Media - one of the most popular music magazines in Korea.
She moved to London in 2011 and started studying with Daniel-Ben Pienaar. She is keen to take part in competitions and was highly commended in the Lilian Davis Piano Competition last year, playing Beethoven's Sonata Op.10-3, No.7.
Hyun-Jeong also won 4th prize in the Osaka International Music Competition, playing the Rachmaninoff Sonata in B flat minor, Op.36. More recently, her activities include performances at St. Paul's Church, Bedford, which was her first recital in the UK. In February she gave a concert in the David Josefowitz Recital Hall. She continues studying with Professor Pienaar and has also received one to one teaching from Cathryn Stott and coaching from Prof. Pascal Devoyon, the Broadwood Visiting Chair of the Piano Department at the Royal Academy of Music.
Hyun-Jeong Hwang is a keen pianist with particular interests in Classical, Romantic, and contemporary music.
