Camilla Marchant
Camilla enjoys a varied freelance career and has performed with many of the UK’s leading orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, English National Opera and Royal Northern Sinfonia. With the LSO she has toured with Sir Simon Rattle and recorded the soundtrack for the Oscar-winning film The Shape of Water, as well as a number of LSO Live CDs. Camilla has also performed under the baton of many other eminent conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Gianandrea Noseda, François-Xavier Roth and Edward Gardner, and trained with Semyon Bychkov, Yan Pascal Tortelier and Marin Alsop.
In addition to her orchestral work, Camilla regularly enjoys performing solo and chamber recitals. Most recently she has performed as a soloist at the Royal Festival Hall, St Martin in The Fields, Cadogan Hall, and at the Royal Concertgebouw, Amsterdam. Camilla regularly performs a diverse range of repertoire with the Njord Trio at venues including Windsor Castle, The Royal Albert Hall Elgar Room, and the Royal Academy of Art Summer Exhibition. Camilla has also collaborated with other ensembles including the Behn Quartet at Swaledale Festival, and the Florizel Quartet in London. Competition successes include winning the Woodwind Prize and the Flute Prize at the Royal College of Music in 2016, as well as the Piccolo Prize at the Royal Academy of Music in 2017. She was also a finalist in the Yamaha Music Europe Competition.
Camilla recently graduated with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music where she studied with Michael Cox and Karen Jones. Upon graduating she was awarded the DipRAM for Outstanding Final Recital, the Helen Read Prize for achievement, and was appointed as the Regent Fellow, a position which she holds at the RAM from 2018-19. Camilla previously completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal College of Music. She was a scholar at both institutions and was kindly supported in her studies by the Henry Wood Trust, The Tillett Trust, and The Clemence Charitable Trust.
Camilla has also undertaken further training with the LSO Academy 2016, Philharmonia Orchestra Fellowship 2018, Britten Pears Orchestra 2018, Aurora Academy Symphony Orchestra, Stockholm, 2017.
Passionate about music education, Camilla teaches at Kings College London, as well as private pupils around London. She has also given masterclasses and workshops for younger pupils wishing to attend a Music Conservatoire. As part of the Regent Fellowship, Camilla has taken classes for all woodwind students at the Royal Academy of Music.

Thomas Ang
|
Thomas studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Hamish Milne and Diana Ketler, and at the Guildhall School with Andrew West and Eugene Asti. He has won prizes for his performances of Beethoven, Frederick Delius, Arthur Bliss and the contemporary piano repertoire.
In other chamber groups he maintains a strong interest in unusual repertoire of the late Romantic, as well as mid-20th-century British music. He has also earned recognition as a specialist in the music of Nikolai Kapustin, having played and conducted world premieres of his compositions in the UK, Singapore, Australia and Taiwan. Off the concert stage, Thomas works as a répétiteur and ballet pianist. He sometimes accompanies and improvises for silent film, having performed at the Barbican Cinema in Erotikon by Gustav Machatý. Thomas also plays the violin, and writes poetry and piano transcriptions of songs and symphonies. |

Nocturne for flute and piano (1911)
Lili Boulanger wrote the piece for flute or violin and piano. I have chosen, on the left, a flute performance by David Le, with Hui-Chuan Chen, piano, made in October 2018 in the Gildenhorn Recital Hall, of the University of Maryland.
On the right I have included a March 2018 performance from the Wigmore Hall, in a Young Classical Artists Trust recording of Savitri Grier and Richard Uttley.

Our recording here is of Gergely Ittzés, flute and József Gábor, piano, live in Budapest.
Ittzés has recorded all of Karg-Elert's flute works on a CD by Hungaroton Records. He has been appointed to teach at the Juilliard School's new branch in Tianjin, China, openingin September 2019.
