Carl Philipp Stamitz (1746-1801)

Daichi Yoshimura, viola
Born in Japan and raised in England, 20-year- old violist Daichi Yoshimura is currently in his second year of his Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal Academy of Music in London under the tutelage of Juan-Miguel Hernandez, violist in the legendary Fine Arts Quartet.
At the Royal Academy, he has held the position of both co-principal and principal viola in the Academy Symphony Orchestra on numerous occasions. Daichi has also performed at the Japanese Embassy where he performed the Mozart Oboe Quartet alongside members of
the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
He was recently awarded 2 nd place in the Mica Comberti Bach prize. His string quartet at the Academy are also recipients of the Davey-Posnanski scheme, enabling them to receive multiple recital opportunities and weekly coaching from esteemed violin professor
Richard Ireland.
Outside England, Daichi has played solo and chamber recitals in Norway, Switzerland, France and Canada. He also participated in the Orford Music Festival last summer where as well as having solo masterclasses with esteemed viola professor André Roy, he had string quartet coaching with the Kuss Quartet and the Fine Arts Quartet.
Prior to studying at the Royal Academy, Daichi was at the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester for 5 years where he studied with violin and viola teachers Yumi Sasaki and Graham Oppenheimer respectively. His quartet at Chetham’s were finalists of the Fiona Ord string chamber music competition in 2015 and 2016. His concerto debut came in June 2015 when he
played the Malcolm Arnold Viola Concerto with the Athenean Ensemble at Emmanuel Church as part of the Didsbury Festival under the baton of Nicholas Simpson.
Daichi is currently using a viola made by Helen Michestschläger who is a distinguished viola maker based in Sale.

Henry Cash, piano
Henry Cash studies piano at the Royal Academy of Music. He has previously won the 2016 RNCM Chopin prize and was the 2016 Pendle Young Musician of the Year. In August 2016 he was appointed a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM).
Henry has given numerous concerts in the UK and abroad, including Rachmaninov’s first piano concerto, accompanied by the Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra and Saint-Saens’s Carnival of the Animals with the Huddersfield Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has also played in concerts at the Barber Institute (Birmingham), Jersey Academy of Music, Lanercost Priory in Cumbria, St James’s, Piccadilly, and Manchester's Bridgewater Hall.
He is a laureate of the 2016 Mazovia Chopin Festival, Warsaw and performed in Chopin’s House. He has played in masterclasses given by world-class pianists including Stephen Hough and Peter Donohoe.

Our viola and piano concert opens with the first movement of the Viola Concerto in D major by Carl Stamitz - his Opus 1.
