Music on Thursdays are pleased to announce that Vecchia Trattoria are supporting the season of lunchtime concerts. As well as offering some financial support for the concert season, the restaurant will be selling sandwiches and cakes at the end of each concert, and have put a special offer voucher on the back of the printed weekly programmes.
Co-owner Chris Leverett commented: "The number of positive initiatives around Leatherhead just now demonstrates a strong trend toward a greatly enriched business, social, and cultural life in the town. These Thursday lunchtime concerts (at St Mary's and St Nicholas Parish Church) are such a good idea. We are delighted to support them, and we expect many people will make the concerts a regular part of their weekly activities."
Today also saw the first of our regular weekly emails announcing detail of the week's concert. To join our emailing list simply send a request to: musiconthursdays (at) gmail .com. We may tell you about other cultural events in the church and around Leatherhead, but we will never pass on your details.
Thursday 1st March 2012
Music on Thursdays' hottest news for St David's Day is the launch of our entire 2012 season of lunchtime concerts. There is live music in Leatherhead's Swan Retail Centre throughout lunchtime today (12:15 to 13:45).
Review: On a bright spring morning our team of volunteers, drawn from both choir and congregation, gave out more than 350 leaflets to shoppers while two members of the Brook String Ensemble played a wide variety of pieces. With so many helpers we had time to talk to the people we were giving leaflets to and heard comments including - "Oh, I've already put these concerts in my diary" and "What a lovely idea for the town".
