Edita Zurauskaite-Durrant, mezzo-soprano
Mezzo-soprano Edita Zurauskaite-Durrant was born in Lithuania where she studied music and singing at the Lithuanian Academy Of Music and Theatre. As a member of the Kavnas Opera company she performed roles including Marcellina (Fidelio), Gianetta (L’Élisir d’Amore), Amina (La Traviata) and Maddalena (Rigoletto). Performances in Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Ireland and Britain have included recitals, oratorios, as well as solos in many religious services. She has performed the Mozart Requiem, Cherubini’s Requiem and much of the traditional oratorio repertoire.
Edita was vocal coach for a festival chorus in Lithuania whose appearances included the Choir Music Festival in Limburg (Germany) in 1993, Stuttgart (1994) and the Cork Choral Festival (Ireland) in 1995.
From 1995 to 1998 Edita undertook voice training under the tutelage of Piero Mattei (London) and Aldona Vilcci (USA).
In 1997 Edita gave a lunchtime recital in the parish church of St Olave, Hart Street, in the City of London and in the same year she sang a concert in Bristol Cathedral. She was awarded first prize at the North London Music Festival in 1998.
Edita relaunched her singing career earlier this year by giving a well-received concert in Leatherhead Parish Church and is again winning festival prizes. In September 2012 she gave a well-received recital in Dorset with Royal Opera stalwarts baritone Piero Mattei and accompanist Elaine Korman, and in October of that year gave a solo concert in the Music on Thursdays series.
Peter Bailey, piano
Peter Bailey trained at the Royal College of Music where he won several college prizes. He is an accomplished pianist who has performed throughout Europe with touring companies including Cameo Opera, Opera d’Amici and Barrandov Opera.
Peter is the Music Director of Pavilion Opera with which he has toured Britain, Europe, Japan and the Philippines. He regularly accompanies the Jubilate Choir and is also a visiting coach/accompanist at Morley College, London.
This summer he has performed in Worcester Cathedral and in Sandringham House while on tour with Pavilion Opera as well as The Hilton, Cobham, in a gala opera night with local group Opera D'Amici.
