LUCENT QUARTET
The LUCENT QUARTET is a string quartet comprising students from Ukraine, Australia, and Spain, all of whom are studying at the Royal Academy of Music.
The Lucent Quartet was formed in September 2022. A month after being formed, they performed works by Haydn and Beethoven in the Angela Burgess Recital Hall.
In February 2023, they performed a work by the Ukrainian composer Borys Lyatoshynsky for a concert organised in memory of the people in Ukraine. The Lucent Quartet also performed a lunchtime recital at Wimbledon Care Home.
The quartet is regularly coached by David Smith, a member of the Alberni String Quartet. His recent comment about the quartet: “They are motivated to show how their talent and musical language can be inspirational in these difficult times.”
Lucent Quartet has also received lessons from Lawrence Power, Levon Chilingirian, James Sleigh and John Myerscough.
In August, the Lucent Quartet will be taking part as full scholarship scholars in "The International University Courses of Musica en Compostela in Spanish Music", in Santiago De Compostela, Spain.

Daniela Palamariuk, 1st violin
Daniela Palamariuk was born in 2003 in the city of Chernivtsi, Ukraine. She started her musical education as a violinist at the age of 6 with Alla Hamova. In 2018 Danielabegan studies with Lyudmyla Martyniuk at the College of Arts named after the composer Sydir Vorobkevych. During 2019 she held a scholarship given by the President of Ukraine. She has also taken part in many musical projects of the Vere Music Fund.
Since the age of 12 Daniela has participated in many projects as a soloist with different Ukrainian orchestras: Ukrainian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Chernivtsi Philharmonic, Zaporizhzhia Philharmonic.
Daniela is a winner of numerous Ukrainian and international competitions, and the most important of which are:
• XXVIII International Competition “Prize of Lanciano” (Italy) - Grand-Prix
• IV International Competition of the Young Virtuosi “Elman’s Golden Violin” - Grand-Prix
• XVII International Competition-Festival of children’s and youth arts “Chords of Khortytsia” (Ukraine) - 1st prize
• First Ukrainian Competition of the young violinists in memory of D.Oistrakh (Ukraine) - 2nd prize
She has also taken violin masterclasses with the following musicians: Borys Harlytskyi (Germany), Alexander Brusylovskyi (France), Fedor Rudin (Switzerland), Oleh Krysa (United States) and Oleh Kaskiv (Switzerland).

Yuliia Sozanska, 2nd violin
Yuliia Sozanska was born in 2003 in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. She started playing the violin when she was 5 years old. In 2018 she was enrolled in the Chernivtsi College of Arts and graduated in 2022.
While studying in college, she performed regularly as a soloist with orchestra and won 1st place at the International Competition of Young Musicians in Zagreb. She was accepted to study at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts as well as Royal Academy of Music in London.
Yuliia is currently a student at Royal Academy of Music, with a full scholarship. She is studying with Professor Robin Wilson and previously studied with Gyorgy Pauk.
She has been a winner of more than 10 international and Ukrainian competitions such as the International Competition of Young Musicians in Zagreb, Croatia – 1st prize; International Competition “Lviv virtuoso” – 2nd prize (Ukraine); Eurochestries International, France – 2nd prize.
Yuliia is a former member of Chernivtsi Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, 1st violins group (2020-2022) and a current member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, 1st violins, (2020-now).
She has been part of many masterclasses, workshops, and seminars in various countries. One of the most recent experiences was getting the scholarship for participation in Wiener MusikSemimar with Eugeniy Chevkenov, where Yuliia had a performance in Haydn’s birthplace in Rohrau, Austria.

Pol Altimira i Saura, viola
Pol Altimira i Saura was born in 2002 in Alella, Barcelona. At the age of three, he started to play the violin in the music school “Ressò Centre d’Estudis Musicals” with professor Emili Cuenca.
When he was 14 he entered the “Conservatori Professional de Música de Badalona” with professor Marta García, with whom he finished the violin professional grade in 2021. In 2019, he started to play the viola with the professor Ashan Pillai in Conservatoire in Badalona, with the academic distinction of the honour award.
In 2020 he was admitted, with a scholarship, to the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he takes his superior studies with Ashan Pillai, and occasional masterclasses with Garth Knox, Juan Miguel Hernández, John Thorne and James Sleigh. In 2021 he obtained the second prize in C category of the “X Concurso de Corda Cidade de Vigo”.
He is a member of several youth orchestras: JONC (Catalan National Youth Orchestra), JOSV (Vallès Symphony Youth Orchestra), JOIC (“Intercomarcal” Youth Orchestra), JOP (“Ponent” Youth Orchestra), Jove Projecte Orquestral, EOIB (Orchestral Encounters of the Balearic Islands) and Camerata Bacasis Orchestra; under the baton of Manel Valdivieso, Xavier Puig, Josep Maria Sauret among others.
He was part of the academy of OSV (Vallès Symphony Orchestra), where he played with directors such as Víctor Pablo Pérez, Xavi Puig and Rubén Gimeno. In 2022, he joined EUYO (European Union Youth Orchestra) as a reserve. At the Royal Academy of Music, he has been part of different orchestra projects, such as “RAM Susie Sainsbury’s Soloists”, with conductors such as Clio Gould or Nikolaj Znaider.

Yena Gook, cello
Yena Gook was born in Australia and studied with David Lale, former Principal Cellist of The Queensland Orchestra.
At sixteen, she was accepted to The Purcell School in London on a scholarship and studied with Bozidar Vukotic. She is currently in her second year of studies at The
Royal Academy of Music under the tutelage of Jo Cole on a scholarship as a Leverhulme Arts Scholar. She is also kindly supported by the Albert Cooper Trust and the PPCA Trust.
She has gained further inspiration through masterclasses with Sung-Won Yang, Alban Gerhardt, Raphael Wallfisch, Vaclav Petr and Steven Doane.
Yena has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in a number of venues in the UK and Australia such as Cadogan Hall, Southbank Centre, St James’s Picadilly, St John’s Smith Square, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) and Melbourne Recital Centre.
She was invited to play as a recitalist in the Crescendo International Music Competition at Carnegie Hall because of her first place in the Brisbane International Youth Music Festival. She was recently selected a recipient for the Derek Simpson Prize and was awarded a very highly commended.
Yena has taken part in projects with Josephine Knight, and John Wilson and was in the opera with Johann Stuckenbruck this May. She has a keen interest in performing contemporary music.
She was a participant in Aisha Orazbayeva’s masterclass and has worked and performed many works by composers studying at The Royal Academy of Music. Recently she performed a solo work on Untity101 Radio Station and at the Budleigh Music Festival.
