Inis Oírr Asano
Inis Oírr Asano (pronounced Inisheer) is a violist and recorder player studying under Paul Silverthorne and Anna Stegmann, with a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She has been a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra since 2019. Before joining the EUYO, Inis Oírr began her viola career by joining the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain in 2018 as a Leverhulme Arts Scholar and Wolfson Scholar, leading the viola section in their Spring Tour. Inis Oírr is a member of the Asaka Quartet, newly formed and awarded a place on the Academy’s prestigious Frost-ASSET Scheme for string quartets. Inis Oírr has performed in numerous concert venues including the Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and Barbican Centre in the UK. Since joining the EUYO she has had the opportunity to travel to and perform in 9 different countries and venues, including Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Berlin and Royal Opera House of Muscat. |
Recently, Inis Oírr has had the opportunity to perform in the Glastonbury Concert Series at the Victoria & Albert Museum with her piano quintet. They were also awarded second place in the Academy’s Harold Craxton Prize.
As a soloist, her recent performance of Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Eulogy with the Academy’s contemporary Manson Ensemble was attended and commended highly by the composer himself. She has also been selected for masterclasses by the Academy with Harmut Rohde and Ashan Pillai. In January 2022, she was awarded third prize in the Mica Comberti Bach Prize. In March 2022, Inis Oírr made her Wigmore Hall debut performing contemporary string trios with Nash Ensemble member Adrian Brendel.
Prior to joining the Senior Department of RAM, Inis Oírr attended the Junior Department, where she was awarded the Senior Category Viola Prize in her final year. In addition to her extensive viola playing, Inis Oírr has achieved ABRSM Diplomas in violin, recorder and piano.
In 2017, she was a finalist in the Senior Solo Category of the ORDA Recorder Competitions in Amsterdam, whilst her duet was awarded the Royal Wind Prize. Whilst at school, Inis Oírr enjoyed studying academic music at Higher Level International Baccalaureate. She is continuing her passion for education as an Ambassador of the Benedetti Foundation.

Naoki Toyomura
Naoki Toyomura is a Professional Diploma candidate at the Royal Academy of Music in London studying with Professors Michael Dussek and Joseph Middleton. Prior to that, he was an MPhil student at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge, after graduating from the Eastman School of Music and University of Rochester with dual degrees in piano performance and economics as a Provost Circle Scholar. While at Cambridge, Naoki participated in the Pembroke College Lieder Scheme and the Instrumental Award Scheme. He also co-directed he Hughes Hall College Choir and the Cambridge University Symphony Orchestra. As a pianist, he has won a string of first prizes from various competitions around New Zealand uch as the North Shore, West Auckland, Tauranga and Te Awamutu Performing Art Competitions, as well as internationally such as the WPTA Indonesia International Piano Competition and Forte International Music Competition held at Carnegie Hall, New York. |
He has performed chamber music with members of the Tokyo Philharmonic, NHK Symphony, Auckland Philharmonic, Rochester Philharmonic and Syracuse Symphonia orchestras and with faculty from Cambridge University, Eastman School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory and Tokyo University of the Arts. He has also been involved in music outreach, most notably, Music Inspires Africa where he performed and taught in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Our recording of Baba Yetu is conducted by the composer Christopher Tin himself. It takes place in the beautiful Cadogan Hall, beside London's Sloane Square. The performers are the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, with the combined voices of the Angel City Chorale, Prima Vocal Ensemble, and Lucis.

The solo viola player in this recording of the Vieuxtemps Capriccio is Lech Antonio Uszynski, performing in the Dorfkirche or St Martin's Reformed Church, in Riehen, Switzerland. Famous names from this town include tennis-man Roger Federer, the mathematician Euler, and the astronomer Leopold Courvoisier.
