Kassia Trio
The Kassia Trio is a modern re-invention of the piano trio made up of two saxophones (Chloe Percy-Smith and Emma Jones) and piano (Amy Bladon). Performing new music and arrangements of repertoire from the past, this versatile ensemble combines graduates of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Guildhall School of Music and the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague.
Through exploring a range of repertoire, the trio’s aim is to keep classical music accessible, as well as helping to promote the saxophone as a classical instrument. Their repertoire ranges from modern pieces written for their specific instrumentation, to classical transcriptions, as well as lighter well-known musical classics. Their saxophone line-up is interchangeable, covering soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones. Recent performances have included recitals in Bristol, Birmingham and Beckenham, (and now BLeatherhead).

Amy Bladon, piano
Amy Bladon is a pianist and teacher based in London and recently graduated with distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Prior to studying here she completed her undergraduate music degree at the University of Bristol, where she won both the Piano Accompanist prize and the concerto competition. This particular award afforded her the opportunity to perform Mendelssohn’s 1st piano concerto with the university orchestra at St George’s, Bristol and in Girona, Spain.
Alongside a busy performance schedule Amy maintains a keen interest in music education and is a visiting piano teacher at Lister Community School in London and Heath Mount School in Hertfordshire. Previously, Amy worked as a Graduate Music Assistant at Wells Cathedral School, a multi-faceted role involving piano accompaniment, and piano, aural and theory teaching. Amy is also currently the pianist for PB Theatricals Youth Theatre, a company specialising in producing quality Gilbert & Sullivan operettas in Buxton, Derbyshire.

Chloe Percy-Smith, saxophone
Chloe Percy-Smith is a Birmingham-based saxophonist, currently in her final year of Masters study at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, supported by Help Musicians UK. From her work as a soloist and ensemble member, highlights include winning the Birmingham Conservatoire Saxophone Prize in 2016, third place in the Chandos Young Musician Competition in 2015, followed by performing with the EUYWO (European Union Youth Wind Orchestra) later that year.
As a multi-instrumentalist, doubling on flute and clarinet Chloe’s recent work includes The Life at Central School of Speech and Drama, London (2019), King at the Hackney Empire (London Musical Theatre Orchestra, 2018) and Thursford Christmas Spectacular (Norfolk, 2017).
Outside of her playing work, Chloe is active as a woodwind teacher across the West Midlands and is the Saxophone Tutor for the Junior Department of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Emma Jones, saxophone
Emma Jones graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with a first class BMus (Hons) in 2015 and with a Masters of Music from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, Netherlands in 2017.
Emma has performed with many international orchestras and ensembles including the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands, Asko | Schönberg (Danish chamber orchestra), Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, the EUYWO (European Union Youth Wind Orchestra) and with the KC/Codarts symphony orchestra under conductor Valery Gergiev.
As a chamber musician she has performed on the Dutch station Radio West, at the Scandinavian Saxophone Festival and as one half of saxophone duo, Element. Outside of the classical world, Emma has performed with Fairport Convention at their Cropredy festival and features on their latest album Myths and Heroes.
