Emma Williams & Wezi Elliott
Wezi Elliott started off his musical journey on the guitar, but a love of baroque music and a chance meeting led him to the Royal College of Music to study lute with Jacob Lindberg. Wezi has performed all over the country as a soloist and continuo player. He regularly plays alongside Emma Kirkby with Dowland works and performs in the Marian Consort's Breaking the Rules tour.
After playing here two years ago, Wezi is delighted to be back, this time performing in a duo with Emma Williams.
Emma Williams started the recorder like most people, at school, but her love of the instrument led her to keep playing! She continued her studies at Chetham's School of Music and then went on to Trinity Laban, where she studied with Philip Thorby and Ian Wilson.
As a duo Wezi and Emma enjoy exploring less well-known repertoire, particularly focussing on English baroque music.

With the addition of a harpsichord, here is a recording of Daniel Purcell's Sonata, to be heard in today's concert.
Magdalena Kania, Baroque flute, Urszula Jasiecka-Bury, harpsichord, and Mariusz Bury, lute/theorbo perform in Poland's Sulkowski Castle:

John Dowland
Fortune my Foe
On the left we hear Dowland's Fortune my Foe, played at Bolton Guitar Studio by owner and tutor Simon J Lilley, a master of several similar instruments. His youtube channel is well worth exploring for the playing and the tutorials.
On the right, here is a moment to explore another instrument. In the hands of its maker, Neil Brook, her are two tunes played on the hurdy-gurdy (based on a 1622 engraving by Jacques Caillot). We hear La Volta and Fortune my Foe:

Solos for flute(s)
The recording on the left is of André Le Gall playing both parts in recorder duet versions of two of Stanley's Solos from Opus 1.
On the right we hear Montserrat Gascón with Solo No 5 from the later Opus 4.
