Claire Price, soprano
Claire started singing seriously about 30 years ago with various choirs in Surrey. She soon took on solo work and early in her career sang the soprano solo in Schubert’s Mass in G and Haydn’s Creation. On tour with Ashtead Choral Society she sang the solos in performances of the Faure and Mozart Requiems, the Vivaldi Gloria, Finzi's In Terra Pax and the Monteverdi Gloria. Back at home she was in demand for weddings, singing excerpts from the Bach Magnificat, Delibes' Lakme, Schubert's Ave Maria and the Bach/Gounod Ave Maria.
Other performances have included both the Sorceress and Belinda in Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas, soprano in the Haydn Passion and Handel’s Messiah, Gianetta in The Gondoliers and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance. Claire now has a wide repertoire spanning not only the classic and romantic choral works of the 17th to 19th centuries, but also works by more contemporary composers such as Finzi and Jongen.
Claire also enjoys singing lighter popular music by artists including Barbra Streisand and Chris de Burgh as well as extracts from musicals by Lloyd Webber, Bernstein, and Schoenberg.
