Leyla Cemiloglu, piano
Leyla Cemiloglu (born 1998) started playing the piano at the age of five. After numerous successes in local music festivals, she gained a place at the Yehudi Menuhin School of Music in Stoke d’Abernon, and moved with her family from Kent to Cobham. She is now in her seventh year at the School, where she is taught by Professor Ruth Nye MBE, close friend and pupil of the great pianist Claudio Arrau.
In her time at the Yehudi Menuhin School, Leyla has had masterclasses with Victor Rosenbaum, Andrew Ball and Emile Naumoff, and works frequently with internationally-renowned Turkish pianist Idil Biret.
Leyla has performed, as both a soloist and a chamber musician, in places as far and near as The Music Room at Champs Hill, the Riverside Barn in Weybridge, The Wimbledon Festival, The Swiss Ambassador’s London Residence, the Mercer’s Hall in London, Neve Shalom Cultural Centre in Istanbul and the Royal Over-Seas League in Edinburgh.
