Our concert opens with one of Haydn's later trios, No 20 in D major, Hob XV/7, written in 1784, and played here by the Beaux Arts Trio, who have recorded all of Haydn's trio:
Debussy was only 18 years old in 1880 when he wrote his Piano Trio in G. The manuscript came to light in the effects of a former pupil as late as 1982. Performing at a house concert are the Cascadia Trio - Elizabeth Doty, violin, Tom Graves, cello, and Hannah Brewer, piano:
Max Keenlyside has a good take on Jopin's Ragtime Dance. Here are his words on the recording below:
Here's Joplin's earlier, original version of "The Ragtime Dance" (more or less...). Recorded on my recently-acquired 1927 M Schulz piano! There's also a surprise during the stop-time section.
I've fully restored that circa 1850s Kirkman upright behind me, and re-tightened its pinblock with CA glue.
Nonetheless, I have tuned it a semitone flat to go easy on the 'ol beast.
So, when I switch pianos here, I'm also switching keys up a semitone.
Hope you enjoy - cheers.
