Lacôte built guitars for many of the major guitar composers of the 19th centruy, including Sor, Aguado, and Napoléon Coste. This is believed to be one of Lacôte's last two instruments. Used with kind permission from owner, Matteo Mela. Filmed at the Chiesa di San Bernadino, in Ivrea, Torino, Italy.

John Dowland
Lachrimae Pavan (c1690)
As Dowland wrote for the lute rather than the guitar let us hear one of these pieces on that original instrument. Here is Brandon Acker giving us terrific close-ups of the lute too:
Don McLean (b Donald McLean III 1935)
Vincent (Starry Starry Night)* (1971)
This is one of those songs that is most often called by it's first line, rather than the title the songwriter gave it. The Vincent of the title is the painter Vincent van Gogh (pronounced whichever way you wish), and the lyrics were inspired by his painting The Starry Night

The last in our sequence of three guitar concerts, we hope you have enjoyed this new look at the musical talents of David Massey. Putting his name into the search box on youtube will let you find more of David's song-writing as well as his classical playing.
