The Andrews Massey Duo - Emily Andrews, flute and David Massey, guitar - met at the Royal Academy of Music in 2009 and have performed together ever since. The duo has won numerous prizes, travelled all over the UK and abroad (Italy, Sweden, Germany), and released three aclaimed CDs of their own arrangements (From the Roots - folk , Make Merry - world music style carol arrangements, Stolen Serenades - Schubert and Mozart). They have performed recitals in all the top London venues, including Wigmore Hall, St Martin in the Fields and St James Piccadilly, and attracted much press attention "flute and guitar ensemble playing at its very best", "a classy duo".
Emily and David are looking forward to bringing some of their newest arrangements to Leatherhead for an (unusually for them) entirely classical programme! The Duo's upcoming projects include a very exciting collaboration with guitarist Francisco Correa and playwright Clare Norburn, to write and produce a concert-play called Creating Carmen. The show will premiere in Stroud Green in June, and they are currently applying for Arts Council Funding to help tour it further afield to Buxton Festival, Scotland and the West Country - and perhaps Leatherhead. |
